Chiropractic

We believe chiropractic is an integral part of healthcare and it is our goal to help you regain and maintain your health.

There is an innate intelligence within our bodies to keep us alive while awake and asleep, even before birth. What instructs our eyes to blink or pulse to keep a rhythmic pattern? It is our brain and central nervous system that control these things. Our brain plays a key role in every organ, tissue, and cell in the body via the nerve system. As the founder of chiropractic, B.J. Palmer  stated, “the power that made the body, heals the body”.

The brain is the master of the nervous system, floating in a nutrient-rich fluid called cerebral spinal fluid. The brain stem exits through an opening at the base of the skull called the foramen magnum (meaning big hole) through the first two vertebrae: the atlas (C1) and axis (C2). There are an estimated 450 million nerve cells that crisscross at this area and is the crucial hub of information for the rest of the body. The brain stem continues down the spinal column as the spinal cord before extending to every organ, tissue and cell in the body.

Signals from the brain travel up and down the spine along this “nerve highway” at over 250mph. Your nervous system controls and coordinates everything in your body and mind. Even the slightest misalignment (subluxation) of a vertebrae can cause disruption in a nerve signal. When subluxations (nerve interference or damage) impede the nerve flow— similar to poor connection on your cell phone— you are no longer functioning at 100%. Lessened nerve signals impact the communication between the brain and body, causing dysfunction in the end tissues compromising your health and vitality.

Leaving subluxations uncorrected can lead to significant loss of function long before any noticeable symptoms may arise. This is especially true with the nerves that control the immune system, reproductive organs and digestion. Left out of alignment long enough, the joints endure wear and tear and can deteriorate substantially.

Chiropractors are trained to identify interference in the nervous system and trace it back to the root cause for correction. Only chiropractors can determine if you have subluxations and they have many techniques for correcting these misalignments. These skills have been honed by working with the complex systems of the human body for over 100 years.

Our Care

Our goal is to locate subluxations then remove them and their causes, allowing your body to heal on every level and function at its highest capacity. Dr. Schenck detects subluxations and uses state of the art advanced spinal correction techniques.

Subluxations are caused by our inability to handle life’s three major stressors:

  • Physical: injury, poor posture
  • Mental-Emotional: stress, anxiety, depression, negative thoughts
  • Chemical: exposure to toxins, fumes, pollution, unhealthy foods, medications
The chiropractic methods we offer are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. Chiropractic care is the safe and effective way to feel and perform your daily life at your best.

Spinal Decompression Treatment in Action

What is Spinal Decompression Treatment?

Spinal Decompression Treatment is a revolutionary therapy for neck and back pain that is affordable, gentle, highly effective, FDA cleared, and very safe. Individuals receiving treatment have been able to avoid surgery and dependence on medication.

By re-educating the nerve fibers through subtle movement, patients are able to restore health to the sensory nerves; transmitting healthy signals rather than debilitating pain. Patients suffering with chronic pain now have an option. This is a treatment that is successful in alleviating pain.

The great thing about Spinal Decompression Treatment is a majority of people who suffer from chronic and severe neck and back pain are potential candidates. Many individuals experience relief from chronic pain with no recovery time, start working again, play with their kids, and get back into life!

Three Phases of Treatment:

Phase I— Relief

The goal is to relieve the pressure on the nerves in your neck or back that is causing the pain. Most people find this treatment very relaxing and some even fall asleep. Relief varies according to your age, body structure, and degree of repair needed.

Phase II — Healing

As healing occurs in the neck or back, circulation is restored to the damaged disc and the healing of the disc tissue begins. This healing process occurs simultaneously with relief and reduction in symptoms.

Phase III — Strengthening

Following Spinal Decompression Treatment, you will begin strength restoration to re-stabilize your spine and prevent re-injury. By stabilizing your postural muscles with exercise, your muscles interact to reduce further stress on the spine.

Spinal Decompression

Successful treatment of bulging discs, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, spinal arthritis, and degenerative disc disease.

Vizuri Health Center utilizes computerized decompression, which relieves neck and back pain by reducing the pressure on the discs, spinal joints, and nerves. The ability to target specific discs and vertebral levels for decompression using individual patient settings, allows us to treat a wide range of acute and chronic pain syndromes.

Our program creates individual treatment plans based upon the nature of the condition. Once we see improvements, relief, and correction, we include exercises for stability in order to achieve long-term results. We also provide nutritional counseling, class IV Laser and other individualized therapies to help stabilize the spine All of these services, in addition to Spinal Decompression Treatment, helps patients accomplish true health and wellness.

Clinical Nutrition

Clinical Nutrition is an approach to healthcare that seeks to identify and address the root cause of illness and disease. Our Clinical Nutrition clinicians conduct thorough histories and utilize specialized diagnostic tests, including laboratory blood work. These tests allow us to understand the unique interactions between a patient’s genetics, environment, and lifestyle factors that influence health. Treatment is cooperative, both doctor and patient play an active role. Care is designed not only to relieve symptoms, but to promote and optimize wellness.

Your personalized nutrition plan starts with the goals you hope to achieve. Each person has their own biochemistry, and nutrient needs. We investigate the function of the body by looking at symptoms, using lab testing, and assessing food and water intake, medication use, and lifestyle.

Coaching Approach

We often find it helpful to “coach” our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. We work with you to identify and correct the causes of the problem (food sensitivities, nutrient deficiencies, overgrowths of bacteria, yeast or other pathogens). Once we have a complete picture, we create a personalized healing protocol which often includes dietary changes, medical foods, and targeted nutrients.

Patients will often experience relief from symptoms quickly, but within a short time, they also realize many other health benefits as well. We often hear that people are sleeping better, more energy, less PMS, better concentration, fewer headaches. Many times patients do not realize
the extent to which their health was suffering, or that they could feel so much better just from working on their nutrition.

The body can heal with time and when given the ingredients it needs to do so. Once the protocol is complete, the patient will have all the skills and knowledge they need to maintain all of the progress they have made throughout their life. We provide recommendations tailored for you and your needs. Including the education and tools you need to succeed to get your health back.

What is Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA)?

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis is a way of measuring your body composition: the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. It is an integral part of a health and nutrition assessment.

Research shows that body composition is directly related to health. A normal balance of body fat is associated with good health and longevity. However, excess fat in relation to lean body mass can greatly increase your risks for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and more. BIA allows for early detection of an improper balance in your body composition, allowing for earlier intervention and prevention. BIA also provides a measurement of fluid and body mass that can be a valuable assessment for your current state of health.

Since fat loss is the goal when people set out to lose weight, and muscle gain is the goal when people set out to gain weight, we encourage our patients to monitor body composition changes (fat weight vs. lean fat-free weight) rather than what the scale says. Instead of feeling frustrated with the scale, health conscious people are usually very happy to learn of their progress when viewing BIA results.

How Does BIA Work?

This non-invasive test simply involves the placement of two electrodes on the person’s right hand and foot. A low level, imperceptible electrical current is sent through the body. The flow of the current is affected by the amount of water in the body. The device measures how this signal is impeded through different types of tissue (fat mass vs. lean body mass). Tissues that contain large amounts of fluid and electrolytes, such as blood, have high conductivity, but fat and bone slow the signal down. As BIA determines the resistance to flow of the current as it passes through the body, it provides estimates of body water from which body fat is calculated logarithms.

Other Rehab Therapies:

We use a systematic process of identifying a neuromuscular skeletal dysfunction, develop a plan of action, and implement an integrated corrective strategy to lead you to better posture and health.

The goal is to activate the stabilizing and trunk muscles that may get neglected with other forms of training. The core is important in every movement and we focus on creating a strong foundation to build upon.

Myofascial release is a type of physical therapy often used to treat myofascial pain syndrome. Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic pain disorder caused by sensitivity and tightness in your myofascial tissues. These tissues surround and support the muscles throughout your body. The pain usually originates from specific points within your myofascial tissues called “trigger points.”

Myofascial release focuses on reducing pain by easing the tension and tightness in the trigger points. It’s not always easy to understand what trigger point is responsible for the pain. Localizing pain to a specific trigger point is very difficult. For that reason, myofascial release is often used over a broad area of muscle and tissue rather than at single points.

The primary purpose of e-stim therapy is to simulate what happens in the body when you voluntarily contract and release a muscle many times in a row. This process strengthens and repairs tissue, particularly muscles which have become shortened, weakened, or atrophied due to injury or disease. As a result, it reduces spasm, pain, and swelling.

Ultrasound therapy uses sound waves to penetrate soft tissues and is used to treat pain conditions and to promote tissue healing. It reduces swelling, increases blood flow and breaks up calcifications. While ultrasound therapy is not effective for all chronic pain conditions, it may help reduce your pain if you have any of the following:

    • Osteoarthritis
    • Myofascial pain syndrome
    • Bursitis
    • Carpal tunnel syndrome
    • Pain caused by scar tissue
    • Phantom limb pain
    • Sprains and strains

Rehab Therapies

Class IV Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy is the use of specific wave-lengths of light to treat painful and debilitating conditions. Light energy enters the damaged cells and stimulates inter-cellular activity. This reduces pain in the area and speeds recovery of the damaged cells. Once the cells recover, the healing process is complete.

Class IV  Laser Therapy is safe, non-surgical, and has no known side-effects.

Laser Therapy is a painless treatment that usually lasts several minutes. Patients may experience a comfortable sensation at the point of application.

Most patients see positive results in less than three treatments, with most treatment plans being completed in 10 to 12 sessions. Acute injuries often notice rapid reduction of pain and swelling. Chronic conditions may respond more gradually over a course of treatment.
